FAQ: Sentry Upload Issue - Unable to upgrade WSDL Policy or Import Config File

Sentry administrators may encounter problems when attempting to upload a file to Sentry, particularly with a WSDL upgrade or the import of an FSG file.

Error:

The following error is found when attempting to upgrade a WSDL policy (or import an FSG).

Unhandled exception caught in GUI : Processing of multipart/form-data request failed. /tmp/Jetty_0_0_0_0_5050__/upload_00000104.tmp (No such file or directory)

Cause:

With the Sentry software instances, the /tmp/Jetty_0_0_0_0_5050__/ directory is used by Sentry for uploading files. The root cause of the error is that this directory is missing. The directory is likely being deleted from the /tmp directory by a scheduled daemon or cron job that cleans the tmp directory nightly or every so often.

Resolution:

The immediate resolution is to restart the Sentry service (xmlserver). This will create the missing directory and you should now be able to upload files once again.  Avoid deleting this directory from the tmp folder to avoid future occurrences.

Here is more information on the directories to avoid removing:

/tmp/Jetty_**

The directory is used for temporarily storing uploaded files. i.e. It should not grow
The name is predictable but it can change.
The format is /tmp/Jetty_<mgmtIp>_<port>__

For example:
Jetty_192_168_1_100_5050__/
Jetty_192_168_1_100_5050__webadmin/
Changing the port or IP will create a new directory.
